PETRELLA, Daniel K., 55, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010, at home with the loving support of his parents.
He was born January 15, 1955, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of Daniel J. and Peggy (Hudson) Petrella also of Mingo Junction.
Danny was a 1973 graduate of Mingo High School. He recently retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel after 35 years of service and was a member of local 1190. He was Methodist by faith. An avid Viking fan, Danny also enjoyed playing billiards and in recent years often went fishing with his dad and friends.
While his daughters were young, Danny was active in the Mingo Chiefs Cheering and Mingo Softball organizations. Even during his illness Danny attended his youngest nieces' high school events.
Danny had a kind and giving heart and always wore a warm and contagious smile. His fun loving personality will be fondly remembered and Danny will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Danny is survived by his daughters, Brandy Petrella and Brittany Petrella; three grandchildren; his sister, Kim (Petrella) Ross and her husband, Howard and Danny's nieces, Heather and Hannah Ross.
During his illness, Danny drew strength from the love, prayers and encouragement from family and friends.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Sam Davis, officiating.
Interment in New Alexandria Cemetery.
