Mr. and Mrs. Clarence "Jim" Downard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 1. They were honored with a family dinner party.
The Downards were united in marriage Aug. 1, 1959, at Fairport Friends Church in Dayton.
Downard, son of the late John and Lora Downard, was a journeyman carpenter in Dayton and a machinist at the Stevenson Co. in Wellsville, where he retired in 1999 after 32 years' service.

She is the daughter of the late Raymond and Adele Thompson. She retired in June from the Steubenville City School District after 32 years' service.
They are the parents of Lora Grimes of Mingo Junction; Rebecca Gallagher of Fresno, Ohio; and John Downard of Mingo Junction. They have 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
