PALUMBO, Rose M. (Lettieri), formerly of Weirton, passed from this world on May 19, 2009.
She died in her home, surrounded by her family, friends and listening to her son's music.
She had a passion for life, for her husband, her children and grandchildren, and the Steelers!
She was blessed with longevity and the energy to still play with her great-grandson, whom she adored.
Rose is the wife of Patsy J. Palumbo, the two, formerly of Greenlawn Boulevard, were Weirton residents for over 70 years before they chose to move to Cherry Hill, N.J., to be near their family.
With a spirit bigger than life, she will be greatly missed by her family: In addition to Patsy, John Palumbo and Mary (Hughes) Palumbo, and their children, Ian and Ali, Rena Palumbo Jones and Jim Jones, their daughter, Chelsea, her husband, Matt, and their son, Ayden.
She is also survived by her sister, Natalie Onori and brother, Frank Lettieri, both of Weirton, her brother, Nick and sister-in-law, Carm, originally of Weirton, now residents of Las Vegas; and her sister-in-law Helen Lettieri of Florida.
She is cherished and will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends for her love of holidays, Christmas celebrations, wonderful baking talents and hearty laughter.
She and Patsy were members of St. Joseph the Worker Church until they moved to New Jersey. St. Peter Celestine became their parish after their move.
Rose celebrated her birthday only two weeks before her death. She was able to go out, enjoy dinner with her family and blow out the candles on her favorite desert, cheesecake. The end came quickly, a blessing a swift ending to suffering.
Rose loved to watch daily and Sunday Mass in addition to other Catholic programs on the Eternal Word Television Network and she found peace and spiritual strength by doing so; therefore, the family requests, if you choose to make any donations, and in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Rose's honor to EWTN, a Catholic non-profit organization, wholly funded by donations: EWTN, c/o Marci Perry, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210
Plans will be announced as soon as they are complete.
