STRASBURG - 81-year-old Lillie C. Grable of Bloomingdale was killed Saturday near Strasburg when the vehicle she was a passenger in was hit by a semi truck.
Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Eric Escoba of the New Philadelphia post said Grable was a passenger in a 1999 Buick Regal driven by her daughter Elizabeth J. Grable, 52, of Bloomingdale.
"The Grable vehicle was exiting from Interstate 77 onto U.S. Route 250 and was making a left turn at the intersection of U.S. Route 250 and Route 21 when the car was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by Jesse R. Connor, 25, of Canton. The Grable vehicle failed to yield the right of way to the tractor-trailer," explained Escoba.
Elizabeth Grable and Conner were transported to Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Lillie Grable was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Escoba said both vehicles in the accident sustained major damage, and the accident remains under investigation today.
"We will present our final report to the county prosecutor who will decide if she will take the case to the grand jury or make a decision herself. There was no alcohol involved in the accident and it appears to be a tragic accident," Escoba said.
