Soccer camps to be held at FUS

STEUBENVILLE — Catholic Soccer Camps , is the first soccer camp of its kind that combines high-level soccer instruction with top-notch Catholic ministry. It is operated in a collaborative relationship between the CSC, the World Youth Soccer Academy (formerly at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida), “The Soccer Academy” television show and the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

The CSC will run two weeks of camps this summer, July 6-11 and July 13-18, for male and female campers between the ages of eight and 17.

Bethany Soccer Camps taking players

WHEELING — The annual Bethany Soccer Camps held at Wheeling Jesuit University are currently accepting registrations for individuals and teams. The camps are open to residential and commuter campers.

The camp dates are: July 6-10 (co-ed), an instructional camp for players, ages 8-13; July 13-17 (high school girls), is designed to accommodate female players who are serious about playing high school or competitive club soccer; July 20-24 (high school boys), provides skill development, team tactics, conditioning and competitive games for high school teams and competitive clubs.

In addition to the above residential camps, three summer day camps will be available: June 16-19 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (ages 4-14) at St. Clairsville, Capstone Clinic/Camp; June 23-29 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (ages 7-18) at New Martinsville, Nathan Hassig Clinic/Camp; and July 7-10 from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (ages 4-14) at Wheeling Jesuit.

Tourney is looking for golfers

COSHOCTON — The Mid-Ohio Golf Association is seeking low handicap amateur golfers to compete in the 44th annual Mid-Ohio Invitational golf championship to be held June 28-29 at Hickory Flat Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette. It is a 36-hole medal play tournament.

Keenan records a hole-in-one

HOPEDALE — Jim Keenan recorded a hole-in-one on the par 3, No. 4 hole at Castle Shannon Golf Course. The Mingo Junction resident used a 9-iron on the 153-yard hole. The witnesses were John Nivon and Craig Adolff.



Edison touchdown club to meet

RICHMOND — The Edison Wildcat Touchdown Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the high school to finalize plans for the football golf outing to be held June 7 at Spring Hills. New members are encouraged to attend.
