ENRIETTI, Laurence J., 83, of Weirton, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Born October 11, 1924, in Hollidays Cove, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence J. and Bruna M. Zanolli Enrietti.
With 34 years of service, Mr. Enrietti retired from the City of Weirton, where he served as superintendent of the Water Department. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus 3734; American Legion Post 10; Italian Sons and Daughters of America; Weirton Elks Lodge 1801; and the St. Joseph Holy Name Society. He served on the Weirton Madonna Boosters, where he volunteered his time filming the football games under Coaches Grossi, Krivak and Miller. He also volunteered transportation to and from the games for the players and cheerleaders.
In recent years, Laurence attended many of the games while watching his grandson play and son-in-law coach. He was an avid photographer, enjoyed golfing and loved his model trains. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps, serving in combat as a bomber pilot during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant sister in 1930.
Mr. Enrietti is survived by his wife, Louise C. Grossi Enrietti, of Weirton, whom he married August 20, 1949; daughters, Linda Percival and her husband, Jonah Bolt, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Lauren Maslov and her husband, Marc, of Franklin, Pa., and Lisa Conti and her husband, Cris, of Weirton; brother, Leonard M. Enrietti and his wife, Patricia, of Weirton; grandchildren, Jill and her husband C. Wade Harward, David Percival and his fiance, Jennifer Schwiezer, Sarah and Leah Maslov and Salvador Conti; and great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Harward.
Friends will be received Wednesday, from 2-8 p.m., at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Thursday, at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, with the Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer officiating.
Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
