Ms. Blaner and the JVS Levy Committee, are you being completely honest with the taxpayers of Jefferson county? Have you explained the new property tax structure as a result of HB59?

With the passage of the new budget HB 59 on June 30, 2013 major changes have occurred to the Homestead Program. Under prior law, the homestead exemption was available to all taxpayers 65 years of age and over or disabled taxpayers regardless of income. Under the new law, for tax years 2014 and forward, only individuals 65 and over with total income of less than $30,500 will qualify the homestead exemption.

Also under the new law, for property levies passed in 2014 and forward, the state of Ohio will no longer subsidize the 12.5% of the levy (this includes all new and renewal levies).

Will the JVS be a part of the drilling unit proposed for the Humpe farm directly across from the school? If so where will the royalties be going?
