Interesting thought from Glenn Beck

March 9, 2014

To the editor: Here is an excerpt from this writer in a letter that appeared on June 14, 2009, “Opinion is not fact:” “Talk radio and cable TV have dug a deep hole of negative reporting....

Thanks Mr. Kopa. I am certainly glad Mr. Beck finally grew a conscience. Nevertheless it still grieves me to think of all the people he (and the other Fox News "reporters") have led astray. So much damage done. Regards.

A shame that the folks at MSNBC can't be as honest as Beck.

Bknees, perhaps you can give us a list of how Fox News led us astray and the damage done.

Maybe you could start with the Benghazi attack started by a YouTube video, or maybe the false IRS scandle that wasn't, then blamed on "rogue" agents in Cincinnati, then traced to DC. You know, the one where Lerner keeps taking the 5th to not incriminate herself and "others".

But, start anywhere you want. Those were merely suggestions.

You didn’t ask me correctly, young man. I don’t do the ugly forum contests.

Furthermore, I am using past examples of your rhetoric to determine that you really don’t care what I think. You just want to argue with someone. I shall graciously decline.

bknees: "Furthermore, I am using past examples of your rhetoric to determine that you really don’t care what I think."

If I didn't care, I wouldn't ask. How can one feel confident in one's viewpoint if one is unable/unwilling to listen/read the support for the viewpoints of others?

Now, when one is totally unable to support their viewpoint, it speaks volumes, and perhaps someone should take that as a clue that it is time to reevaluate that viewpoint.

At the very least, it makes their viewpoint invalid.

Hagrid, you are wasting your time with bKnees. Every single time she is faced with a challenge she does one of two things, she folds and just says your opinions are hateful adding nothing of substance to support her side. Or, she ignores you and acts like nothing ever happened because she knows she is wrong.

Oh, I understand, RPG0340.

My hopes are:

First, that she actually realizes that she is totally unable to support her claims, and understands why, and sees the light.

Or second, that she realizes how dumb her unsubstantiated claims are, and decides to simply stop embarrasing herself.

Strange, time and time again the left claims that the right is a bunch of heartless Cretans but when one admits that perhaps the language used may have contributed to the problem they simply cast more aspersions. I say this is proof of their disingenuous intentions and inability to see beyond their own noses. Liberals with excuse ANY wrong doing on the part of THEIR agents of change because the intensions are all that truly matter not the result! Obama Care is proof of this fact and they all know it but it doesn’t matter! President Obama “tried” to do the right thing but the obvious failed results are unimportant. Mr. Beck admits that perhaps he could have been less derisive but he is NOT the one calling Sarah Palin the “C” word on a regular basis as do several on the left with little or no condemnation. I did notice however that Mr. Beck did not say that his facts were incorrect because they were not! His “Wild Conspiracy Theories” have proven almost prophetic and that must dr

It certainly is hard to stay objective in this political maelstrom, from the left to the right. Many of us in the middle(ok, I’m middle-left) are starting to object to the extreme misinformation and biased garbage spun by these “News” programs and their deluded followers. Fair and Balanced? What a crock. The Worldwide Leader in News? Worldwide leader in media bias maybe. Lean Forward? How about no leaning at all. Just straight up NEWS? I think they are all doing the viewers an injustice. We need to demand journalistic integrity from these services or quit watching them.

bKnees, where is the "journalistic integrity" from other media outlets? For example, what do you think about the doctored George Zimmerman audio tapes. You remember, right? They were the ones that made it sound like GZ pursued The deceased thug simply because of skin color.

RPG0430, so are you FOR journalistic integrity or not. I can't tell from that comment. NBC came under fire for using an edited recording of Zimmerman's 911 call. They investigated, fired a producer and publicly apologized. All programs purported to be News should be just as accountable. News with no intentional bias.

That's exactly why more people get their accountable news from Fox News than almost all the other news agencies combined. Unfortunately, the factual, unbiased news is not good for the Democrats over the last 5 years.

That's why the Democratic politicians don't want you watching Fox News. Reality and honest reporting does not work in their favor.

Bknees, those GZ tapes played all over the country for quite some time before they were found to be doctored. They knew what they were doing. The dope smoking, hippie, hate whitey, Obama look alike crowd wanted to riot to have GZ burned at the stake for killing the product of their morally bankrupt culture only doing what that culture has taught him to do, hate the white people and "kill the kracka slave master."

If only the rest of Faux Nooz would come out and tell the truth for a change. Faux reports the news the Obama haters want to hear, it may get them ratings but it has devivided the country beyond repair. The ran the chearleading squad that drove us into two wars and cost us thousands of lives and trillions of dollars. When George W Bush passed his unpaid for prescription drug plan the Democrats got behind it instead of trying to repeal it. I have said this before you get more news from the Daily Show with Jon Stewart than on Faux or MSNBC and it is a comedy show.

Ohiodem, I, too, enjoy an occasional Stewart and Colbert, when I can stay up that late.

I try to surf through the channels and get reports from a variety of stations and networks. It is my opinion also, that Fox spends too much time being divisive...and anti-Obama, anti-democrat and anti-progressive, as well. I feel it is not good for the unity of our nation to be bombarded with so much negativity. I fear Fox does NOT live up to its tagline: Fair and Balanced.

Regards.

bknees, it is not Fox News that is anti-Obama, anti-Democrat, anti-progressive. It is the news, the FACTS, that do so.

If you disagree, feel free to tell us what Fox News has deliberately reported or failed to report that proves your claim.

Fair enough?

Mr. Hagrid, The subject of this LTE is about the fact that a former Fox host ADMITS and even REGRETS his divisive comments on the program and his part in “tearing the country apart”. It only takes a short time of viewing for an objective person to pick up on a very noticeable slant in the commentary and coverage of news on Fox. It makes their avid followers feel good. It’s what they want to hear – in exactly the way the followers of CNN like to hear a more liberal slant and MSNBC viewers, a progressive one. I get it. Is it right? Well, in my opinion no, not if it misleads and causes unnecessary discord.

Some people cannot relate to one another on some topics objectively, vehemently deny any irregularities and resorting to intimidation. So be it. Unless they show a willingness to openly evaluate and value others’ opposing opinions, then it was not going to be mutually enlightening, anyway and I don’t see the usefulness in that. Regards.

You fail to acknowledge the difference simple political slant, and deliberate avoidence of real news and outright lying for political reasons.

That is where Fox News and Glen Beck differ from liberal news agencies and "reporters like Tingle Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow who slammed Chris Christie nonstop for weeks without a single bit of proof of any wrong doing on his part.

I still challenge you or anyone else to show any deliberate lie by Beck
