There will always be some parents that build the cars for their sons with no involvement by the child. That is unfortunate.

Please don't dismiss the efforts of those parents & boys that did work together on their cars as a learning experience. My son is 9 years old. Yes I worked on his car but he did at least some of every step that was done to his car. That includes using scroll saw, drill press, power sander, Dremel tool, hand sanding, spray painting both color & clear and he applied all of his own decals.

He even did steps on my car as a father-son project. He was polishing axles in a drill press and noticed that he had already done 6 of them and commented that he was also doing some of mine.

Isn't that father-son teamwork on a project what this is all about.

My son was afraid that he would not do a perfect job and learned from this that it doesn't have to be perfect. Have fun, learn & work together.

So happy to see this continue at FORT STEUEN MALL. This is a fine event for youngsters, hats off to the everyone helping put this on..
