Steubenville should do more

To the editor: I am a Steubenville resident, and my husband and I went to Wellsburg for its New Year’s celebration. They had a disc jockey, hot chocolate and cookies, and a ball drop and fireworks....

I agree Steubenville has the ability to do great things but for some reason don't. It's no secret the Big Red band is the best band around. The band could have played and it could have been a very nice evening. The marina also needs cleaned up. There's no reason for Toronto's marina to be in better shape than Steubenville's. During the summer months, once a month the city could hold a family-fun event at the marina. Ask for sponsors and make it free for kids. If they can get together to make that facts website, then they can get together to set up something for the people that live here.

It CAN be done... it just isn't done. I certainly cannot figure it out - even after watching and pondering it for the past 5 years.

Downtown is dying but it is not yet dead. If, however, things don't change and change fast it will pass the point of no return. If the citizens of Steubenville would get fed up with the status quo and demand that things change then that would be a start.
