Mr. Nestor. The income tax was tried before and went down in flames by a bigger margin than the levies on property tax. It seems that people that are okay with taking the money from others are not okay with the district taking theirs. The other problem Edison did not want to roll back the property tax to the normal levels with out the additional money they did get a few times. You can't tax the people both ways it should be one or the other. Then there is the problem with WalMart Distribution Center not paying one cent in property tax. The voters in Edison never had a say in this. The school board refuses to go after the County Commissioners to get their share of the tax. Edison has the voters to elect or vote out of office any commissioner there and should be using this power to get our tax money. Maybe a couple of recall election like happened in Colorado. Edison has the the voters to do this.

Wal Mart has had a 60% tax abatement, the school board has proposed a 50% tax abatement and a fixed dollar payment going forward (don't remember what the dollar amount is, but the superintendent should have that). You could check the Edison Facebook page.. It was probably posted during the last election.... As far as no-high school busing and fees to play and classes.. They are hear to stay in the Edison, especially with this superintendent.... He has to pay them for his children who attend Steubenville schools, so he has no problem with then in the Edison district.... If a levy is passed, when the district wants more $, fees and bussing will be imposed again, if they are ever take away....

I know that Wal-Mart gets a tax break. Problem is if that is taken away (along with the tax breaks for other businesses) they will leave. Then it is guaranteed that a levy will never pass. A local sales tax, or income tax is the only viable answer in my opinion. I spoke with a school board member once and he agreed with me.

I'm not saying I support any more taxes. I am saying that if this issue is to be on the ballot once more, make it so that it affects ALL people, not just property owners.
