The appointment is fine but for a partner in the law office and assistant prosecutor to her, I would think that there would be some bias there. It seems very self serving and concerning for the same person, over and over again, coming to defend or praise her time and time again. Maybe someone less attached to praise her would be more appropriate.

I applaud and commend Jane Hanlin for going a step farther in trying to fight crime. The other commentators obviously like to point out her shortcomings and belittle the positive steps she is taking. The constant bashing of Steubenville and Jefferson County's law enforcement officials is getting old. If you think you can do a better job then why don't you run yourself? There are some things I don't agree with myself however I doubt there will ever be a public official that I agree with 100%. The special appointment, while not overly unique, is unique to Jefferson County and can provide additional resources necessary to combat crime. I'm optimistic about what can be accomplished now and hope to see a drastic reduction in violent crimes.

Wow, she sounds like a superhero! Is this the same 'crime-fighter' that went to Morgantown and testified as a character witness for a convicted felon. The same type of felon she was elected by the people to prosecute? It must be nice to be part of a team that applies the laws as they see fit. I wonder if any future felons will get the same treatment from Jane and Company...

Come on...the fact that you feel the need to write this letter is funny. If you think that just because she got some stupid piece of paper that everyone is going to think she is some great prosecutor of high moral fiber you are more out of it than I originally thought. But enjoy stroking each others ego.
