Here we go again. Another half cocked Letter to the Editor that gets published that makes no sense. Another complaint filled rant that does not provide one ounce of alternatives to ANY topic posted. It appears that there is still "selective" crime incidents mentioned. You forgot one that did not get a whole lot of media attention and that was in a Georgia school. Why don't you all accept that America suffers when PARTISAN politics drag this country down and not just one man. My challenge to all of you so called whatevers is how would you (if you would) insure more Americans, bring back jobs, educate our children? YOU ALL HAVE COMPLAINTS, BUT WHAT IDEAS DO YOU ALL HAVE, or are you like the party you support. Plenty of talking points and no alternative. Keep it clean Amigos and comrades.

Barry, you made the mistake of using facts, figures, and sound reasoning. That immediately turns off the liberals who are only capable of "thinking" with emotions.

Nevermind the fact that Obamacare doesn't work and is already destroying buinesses and the healthcare industry. "What about all the uninsured Americans?" Idiots. NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS FREE. Obamacare will NOT give ANYONE free healthcare. It will make healthcare less accessible for everybody. What's so friggin' difficult to understand about that?

It's gonna be great when things hit rock bottom and conservatives are blamed for that too. You got what you voted for people, enjoy!

I'm proud to be Republican and am happy to support my party. If you actually listened to O'Reilly's talking points he did give a very simple solution; Black leaders like Sharpton, Jackson, etc. need to stress the importance of the family unit, education, and the issue of black on black crime. Instead they choose to race bait the entire nation with the Zimmerman case. The Zimmerman case has nothing to do with why predominately black neighborhoods are the way they are. The reason they're riddled with violence is simple, a lack of education, parenting, and accountability. Due to the lack of education there is a huge unemployment problem. Who is to blame for the large amount of young black men and women who choose not to graduate high school or who choose not to further their education? It is not the "white man", it is on the shoulders of those individuals and their parents. I can't stress the importance of the family unit, education, and accountability enough.

I'm white but nothing was handed to me, I worked hard to get where I am today. I didn't grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth. The path wasn't paved for me because I was white, in fact it was harder for me because I'm not a minority therefor didn't qualify for certain grants. There were no special groups or organizations who would help me solely because of my skin color. When it comes to crime, if someone commits a crime send them to jail or prison for as long as you can. If a violent crime is committed with a weapon send them to prison for at least 15 years no matter their choice of weapon. A weapon is a weapon whether it's a gun or a flashlight. Inanimate objects do not kill people, people kill people. In a fatal drunk driving accident you don't blame the vehicle do you? Of course not it's the idiot operating the car. The weapon of choice is not where the blame goes, the blame belongs with the idiot controlling the weapon. A lot of the problems in this country are the fault of

Democrats. I recently read an article that said it is more beneficial to receive government assistance than it is to work. I don't know if that's true but I do know you can have the government pay your rent, utilities, buy your groceries, and receive cash. Something needs to be done about career welfare recipients. Assistance programs were never meant to be a life-long thing, using them as such is an abuse of the system. Obamacare is going to ruin the 40 hour work week, in my opinion. Companies have already started reducing employee work hours to keep their number of full-time employees under the limit. What's going to happen is those in the middle class are going to have to work two part-time jobs to be able to stay afloat. Both companies will consider you part-time so you still won't receive health insurance. Your perk for working twice as hard for the same amount of money will be still not having insurance and paying the IRS a penalty each year. Every American deserves

affordable health care just not like this. This plan is not any good. If President Obama would do something about the outrageous prices hospitals and health care professionals charge their patients and insurance companies insurance rates would go down. Insurance companies have to charge the high rates to be able to pay health care providers. The problem is not the insurance companies it's the health care community in general. No one wants to talk about that because then they'd lose money. It's easy to point the finger at insurance companies but think about it, they're the ones paying these outrageous bills. Get hospitals and all other health care providers in check and watch the rates go down. Once insurance companies aren't paying ridiculous prices they'll no longer charge us ridiculous rates. It is quite simple if you look at the situation logically.

@Downsized,

Do you know how insurance works? It is a risk, a gamble. Are you willing to pay a premium now and be covered if you get sick, or you may pay never get sick at all, and die in your sleep in your 99th year having paid thousands into the insurance with not one cent in benefit paid to you. Obamacare destroys that risk element by not allowing for risk to factor into the equation. So, the guy that is on his 2nd heart cannot be denied even though one complication could break the system. So, we all have to suffer through higher taxes, regulations, and rationing.

Obamacare is going to destroy this country. It is going to start with small businesses. How can a new business owner afford to hire anyone if he has to pay "x" which is way above and beyond not paying at all right from the gate before they even make a profit? Who in their right mind except an extremely wealthy person would even attempt to start a business and create jobs?

@Downsized - WOW!, I am flattered that you think that I am a Republican.lol. I don't want to be classified as any affiliation because I vote with my conscious. I DO have more than enough health care and want other people to have it as well. My moral conscious does not allow me to quible over money or material things such as taxes, regulations, etc. The ACA can and should be reworked by both parties to make it better..period. That' my alternative to the complaint. Politicians ensured that THEY WERE TAKEN CARE OF concerning the implementation, but what about the people being represented? Also, how many politicians get their money from insurance companies. OPEN UP THE MARKET ACROSS STATE LINES. Until you have to deal with pre-existing conditions you will not understand what that means. Instead of playing selfish politics, try the moral compassion (if you claim to be Christians) side of issue. When one does that, it creates ALTERNATIVES that helps everyone.

Rsimpson-I must first ask that you and other quit asserting race in your issues. Crime, welfare, poverty, etc., is not justa black or minority thing. I was not hand a thing but the hand me downs from my older brothers. When FAMILIES (not just white) taught work ethic, man/womanhood, humility, and most of all the Christian way of living, these issues were minimal. HOW COULD YOU EVEN BLAME A SINGLE POLITICAL PARTY for America's demise. Why could you not part your lips to blame America's demise on the decline it moral standard. Have you forgotten you have adulterers in congress (both parties). That tells me that integrity does not exist in government. The people that vote them in (even you) lack a moral fiber that also attributes to the moral demise of America. People keep talking about money money money and that is pure greed. Again, what is an alternative to fixing the ACA versus trying to kill something that if fixed would benefit more Americans. Not done yet....

Rsimpson - Just responses to your statements. Obamacare is going to ruin the 40 hour work week, in my opinion. Most of you bash the Unions who fought for and won the 40 hour work week over employers. That's what their bargaining did for America. HOWEVER, although I support Unions, I DO NOT SUPPORT CORRUPT UNIONS/REPS. The ALTERNATIVE is to reform that system as well.

You talk about not being a minority and not qualify for certain grants. I am a minority who does not qualify for ANY grants whatsoever. I thank my dad/mom for instilling a work ethic and an uncompromising committment to education. Today's society (not all) (whites/blacks/etc) lack the qualities our parents had and that is the problem that America must address. My alternative is governments (local/state/federal) establish and enforce moral based laws that puts us back on track toward moral fortitude. I am sure you worked hard for what you accomplished & should be angry when "people" get without work

Please explain why I have an obligation to pay YOUR health care.

"...what does one propose as an alternatives to the complaints of this letter?"

Allow competition between states for insurance companies.

Put limits on law suits to reduce doctor and hospital liability insurance costs.

Health savings accounts.

Pay your own way.

"the Republican party is you've held 30 something votes to repeal Obama care with no alternative plan for the uninsured or to make healthcare affordable for all."

Wrong. The Republicans DO have health care plans. One just needs to want to look at them.

Just Google "republican health care plan" and do a little reading. Here's just two of many:

Hagrid - I beg to differ on the "Republican Plan" There is none according to Republican Newt G. ingrich, who was speaking at the opening session of the Republican National Committee's summer meeting, fielded a question about "Obamacare" and recalled that Republicans were able to block Bill Clinton's health care reform effort in 1994 because they had "a positive alternative approach" to health care.

But Republicans today have nothing comparable to offer, Gingrich told nearly the 200 state party chairs, operatives and activists gathered in Boston for the conference.

"I will bet you, for most of you, you go home in the next two weeks when your members of Congress are home, and you look them in the eye and you say, 'What is your positive replacement for Obamacare?' They will have zero answer," Gingrich said.

@Downsized Maybe you didn't read all of my comments. I do understand where you're coming from. I'm not made of money and my boat's going up the same river yours is. I'm just not willing to set myself up for failure and that's exactly where Obamacare is headed. You said you can't afford to have tests run so you don't go to the doctor. That is the exact problem that needs corrected. When it comes to healthcare providers the difference between cost and pricing is far too great. Healthcare providers are taking advantage of Americans and insurance companies alike. They charge these prices because it's out health and they know we'll pay because we need it to stay alive and healthy. Healthcare providers need to be reigned in. There is no reason to charge $1,500 a month for coverage other than the fact they have to in order to cover the bill. Insurance companies should have the right to dispute overpricing. Some surgeries can run in excess of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

@Echobravo It is not I who insert race into the conversation about violent crime. The statistics do not lie, young black males are 10x more likely to commit a violent crime than that of young white and Hispanic males combined. You can look all you want at neighborhoods that are predominately once particular race or another. The only neighborhoods that will be riddled with such high violent crime is predominately black neighborhoods. That's the reality of the situation, are we supposed to ignore it because it isn't politically correct for a white person to talk about black problems? Isn't that racist in and of itself? Since when is it racist to speak the truth? How are we to make the situation better if we don't confront the issue head-on? We could always do things your way by burying our heads in the sand and ignoring the stark reality of the situation? With healthcare I've offered a very simple solution; Reign in healthcare providers and the huge offset between cost and pricing.

@EB You along with other Democrats are missing the big picture. Republicans don't have time to do anything other than protect what little of the American way is left from those such as yourself. Every American does deserve affordable health care, we need a competing marketplace to keep rates low along with federal pricing guidelines. I was charged almost $200 for a disposable ice-pack that probably cost the hospital under .50. I can go to the local Wal-MArt and buy a nice ice-pack for under $10. There is a very simple solution to the healthcare issue that doesn't need a big bill that is going to ruin the economy. All we need is an overhaul of healthcare pricing. Once pricing is reduced the insurance rates will go down. This really is simple economics. That's Democrats problem, you over-analyze everything when there is a simple solution staring you in the face. I've never once bashed any union, so don't put words in my mouth. If you want to bash me, stick with my words.

Then his family, church, charity should step in.

If my father needed surgery, could I get money from you to help pay for it?

"I am one of those who is struggling to make ends meet because the employer I worked for closed our plant after 27 yrs in business for no apparent good reason. "

No apparent reason? Sounds odd. Did you ask what the reason was? Could you tell us what the company name is? Perhaps we can find an answer for you.

"Obamacare isn’t a problem for any business with 50 or less employees they don’t have to do anything."

If they hire a 51st person, they would be hit with tremendous additional cost of business. Most small businesses work on a very small profit margin. That would either put them out of business, or prevent them from expanding.

"I don’t understand the statement of opening insurance up across state lines."

It is a matter of competition. Some folks pay more for the same coverage from the same insurance companies simply because they live in another state. Allowing insurance companies to sell insurance in other states will increase competition, and help reduce insurance costs some.

"Health savings accounts why? You put money into an account and if you don’t use it you lose it,"

HSAs are usually pre-tax, so folks automatically get a 30% (depending on tax rate) reduction. Many do not take what is left over.

" I have not seen a Republican plan to date."

Check the links I provided.

"Keep defending your Republican party and this country will never get any better."

We already see the unintended consequences of ObamaCare, and it ain't pretty. Why not try something else?

Tell us what is wrong with the Republican proposals (that you claimed did not exist).

Explain why that is a bad thing for the insurance companies to do.

"Why should his family, church or charity step in?"

It is called caring for your own. A GOOD thing.

"All I want is healthcare that is both affordable and usable for everyone."

ObamaCare is neither. It is certainly not affordable, with premiums already going up because of it. And not usable, when someone besides the patient and doctor determine care.

If you have money to pay your medical bills, you have money to save ~30% on that expenditure.

Why do folks come to this country for treatments? Because their own health care systems will not treat them in time.
