My parents and your parents got along fine without credit cards. It is a shame that so many are hooked on paying with plastic, and delaying paying the piper. Personally, I have been using credit cards for a lifetime, and have yet to pay one dime in interest. If I can't pay the bill the following month in full, I don't use the card. Don't blame the Fed for the profligacy of the American populace. If there weren't so many defaults on credit card debt, the interest rates would not be so high. If you are foolish enough to pay the high interest fees, you are subsidizing deadbeats.
