I don't think that human life is without value. I'm essentially saying that people like that don't qualify as human.

All human life has value. We help others because it is the right thing to do. Just because someone else makes stupid careless decisions doesn't mean that we should abandon our morals and values.

So, my tax dollars should go "help" someone like that? I work hard for what I have. I've learned to become thrifty, to save, so that someday my children have the things I didn't. Why should I pay to take care of a person that wants to kill themselves?

I'm sorry but I don't agree with the attitude that all drug addicts are worthless and should therefor be left to die. I truly believe that if drug abuse treatment was as available and as easily accessible as drugs are then more people would seek out treatment.

The jerk was a ****** addict, that makes his life worthless. Letting him die is essentially what he wants. Let him have it was my point.

The man was in a position to be saved so let's not complain about money incurred to save someone's life. Allowing the man to drown would have been imposing the death penalty upon him. I do agree with you that it is nonsense for us taxpayers to foot the bill for drug addicts to a point. I have to take regular drug tests to earn my money so anyone who gets cash assistance from the state be it welfare or social security should have to pass random regular drug tests. What we don't do is turn our backs on people with addiction problems, we need to help them get sober and stay sober. Often jail time does little in curbing drug and alcohol addictions.

Well RS 43952, this guy and all the other indigent ****** abusers do cost WE the taxpayers lots of money! How you ask, b/c they can't pay for anything but ****** so WE foot their free medical care when they overdose, feed them when they are locked up in jail, pay for the manpower to hunt them down when they escape from the hospital and steal a car, oh by the way when the cops should have been sitting at their bedside babysitting him! Then we have to pay for the helicopter ride to a Pittsburgh hospital, and now the PA taxpayers are paying for his FREE medical care in one of the nation's best hospitals. Oh, and thank you Mr. Obama for catering to the FREE mentality of America.

Oh yes, because death would be a fair punishment. You people either complain that the police aren't working hard enough or that they're wasting taxpayer dollars when they are doing their job. Life must not be very pleasant for you if nothing can make you content.

To be honest, it would have been better off if the boaters and the police just let the scumbag drown. Now the taxpayer is going to foot the bill for this worthless human to be nursed back to health, so he can be clothed, fed, and housed in jail, so he can be paroled, get back on smack and do it all over again, costing the taxpayer more next time he OD's.

What wasted tax dollars? You act like it cost thousands of dollars for the police officer to holler over the bridge and ask the boaters to pull him out of the water. Why do people like you always blame the police when idiot people do idiot things? The police are and were doing their job and that costs money,*****it up and get over it.

Wow, just imagine if the police watch would have been maintained at the hospital, all of the wasted tax dollars to save this guy would have been saved! Just sayin, what a tragedy for our society that these indigent individuals create!
