To the editor: In response to the letter “Timely thoughts for America” (June 30), I must be in dreamland to read a letter quoting Abraham Lincoln and all his great kindness toward us all....

I so agree with you, Mr. Murray. Lincoln was kind, compassionate man for sure, and probably our greatest President. Unfortunately there are some quotes circulating that are mis-attributed like the one noted in "Timely thoughts..." My personal favorite, though is: "The trouble with quotes on the Internet is that you can never know if they are genuine." --Abraham Lincoln.

Kidding aside, we must continue to progress, put prejudice and bigotry behind us, and be open-minded, compassionate and loving to our fellow Americans. It's the only way to go.
