Your concerns are valid, Mr. Roy. Nevertheless, we still have to face the very real problem of carbon emissions. I support a continual evaluation and carefully developed emission limits to be applied to the new and existing power generation plants and other industry. Wise and sensible coordination of the regulations, subsidies to get the development of renewables up to speed as well as the encouragement of progressing domestic gas production is needed to have a well-rounded and efficient energy program for our country’s (and our children’s) future. With his latest announcement, I think the President and his advisors are trying to do just that. Regards!

He is trying to make fossil fuel so expensive so that renewables and hybrids are cost effective. Also it puts more people on the taxpayer dole and more votes for morons like obunger to get elected. Fossil is the best and cheapest energy we have nothing will beat it if it isn't regulated out of existence.

"Nevertheless, we still have to face the very real problem of carbon emissions."

What "very real problem"? If you check, you will find that global warming stopped about 10 years ago.

"subsidies to get the development of renewables up to speed"

Your president did that. He threw away BILLIONS of our tax dollars to companies like Evergreen Solar, SpectraWatt, Solyndra, the National Renewable Energy Lab, SunPower, Beacon Power Corp, and EnerDel. Who benefitted? Certainly not you or I. If you check, you will find that contributors to Obama's campaigns lined their pockets with our dollars.
