Home rule is good for communities with honest leaders, but Weirton is scary, especially with one of the most unethical former Senators leading the charge. This article proves it. Everything discussed as a positive is a higher fee placed on citizens. Maybe it would first be best to ensure that communities applying for home-rule are actually following the laws on the books today. That review would lead to some surprising results if handle honestly - like how did it get to the point where Weirton had to be sued to comply with basic EPA standards - risking the health of their citizens.
