Today a chance to commemorate what is really the true meaning of Memorial Day was missed, by a Herald Star photographer in Mingo Junction. How sad that we can capture a "Memorial" when the real living legend is still walking around town with his little bag. A little old man, about 90 years old from the 2nd World War was there with a bag of amazing memorabilia. He had some wonderful pictures , he knew the dates and where he was in every picture. He even had an an original survival gear flashlight from the last fox hole he was in, back in the forties. I tried to get your photographer to speak to me for a moment so I could tell him about this man but in his urge to get done for the day he put his hand up and gave me the "I am too busy sign" ....Maybe next time you will send someone who actually cares, and will come to the American Legion about the history not just some one trying to get their pay check for the day.
