To the editor: I must say it is sad to hear that there are people in this town who are more worried about how many girls did or didn’t go out for basketball — or that there is no reserve basketball......

rcdog2, if that question was directed at me the answer is simple. To control spending and keep taxes low. The govonor is doing his job.

The Gov. cut money from the schools and fireman ...police and citys ... But you dont say anything about him. why??

I cannot say that I completely disagree with your opinions. You are correct that too many people care way too much about athletics. However, when it comes to levies and new schools, somthing must be understood. That somthing is that a new school does not solve acedemic problems. High school is about teachers getting students to pass a state standardized exam. It has nothing to do with getting kids interested in engineering, organic chemistry, or efficient agricultural practices. Teachers preach the merits of a new school (and some may be sincere) but after it is all said and done they just want a nice climate controlled office and a reason to keep their job.
