To the editor: As everyone is fully aware of the dilemma Edison Local schools are facing with the continuing failure of levies, I encourage everyone to look past this dilemma and focus only on what......

Wow No Support This Time. You should change your name to No Support Anytime. The renewal levy will not cost the taxpayers any additional money. How many of your children went to Edison and benefited from an education paid for by the public? Also, why dont you run for the school board? You criticize and critize, why not steup and do something positive.

The Emergency Levy will be up for renewal next year.... Time for the parents who are now paying fees and will be paying for high school transportation to get some of these fees back by turning down the emergency levy..... Heck the district can just add more fees to cover the loss of the emergency levy money... I remember back in 2005, the district implemented fees, but dripped the fees when the emergency levy was passed and I thought that there were to be no fees as long as the emergency levy was renewed... But I gues that was a different administration and BOE...

Something to think about for the future......

If you are worried about getting your child to and from school, and your budget is tight. You should pass the levy. Why would I do that my taxes will go up. If you are on a budget it would be easier to pay a lower tax and have kids go to Edison than pay a higher tax to go to any other district that borders Edison. The board is doing what they can with what they got while residents are still making them pay for sins of past boards. If you really want answers to your questions and the truth not rumors show up to a board meeting. The officers of the board will gladly answer any of your concerns. The people of this district need to stop letting their hatered of some guy 10 years ago on another board screw our kids future.

Go for it. It is your money, your decision, and your vote. That is what it is. My distaste for levies is because of the people that don't take a loss if they lose and collect if they win. I still do not agree with the measures taken by the district to compensate for the failure of the levy. Personally, I want to see kids have cool science labs, and all the modern technology available to them. I disagree if kids get nothing more and taxpayers just pay for higher teacher salaries and nothing else.

While many people have received raises since 1977, the district had not. They have actually lost money over the years. I don't argue that money is tight for everyone but what Edison asked of the tax payers is less than what you will pay when Edison is dissolved. Had the levy passed, there would still be bussing for the high school students. Those who voted no have no right to complain about the changes. They were told what would happen and they didn't care.

Ms. Falasca, it appears that you have done very well in your pursuit of an education. No doubt you will go far. However, you will learn why people argue about and discuss this topic after you graduate college, find a job, start paying student loans, and most importantly start being taxed on your income. Your intentions are noble but think about it from the other side of the argument. Say you have a 15 yr old high school freshman, your husband works steady daylight, and you start work at 6:30. How are you to get your child to school and get them home? What if you are on a tight budget and all of a sudden your property tax increase and make things even tighter? Such reasons are why people do not vote for leavies.
