Tired of the waiting game

February 3, 2013

To the editor: I don’t know how many times I have gone to see a doctor, but every time it takes 30 minutes up to two hours before a doctor sees me....

I deduct from the bill and let the collections shennanigans begin. I successfully did this with a practice in Urbana, IL. I had an appointment scheduled, appeared and signed in appropriately, but the staff continued a lunch meeting. They knew they had patients waiting. When asked for payment at the conclusion of the appointment, I simply deducted what they said they'd charge a late patient. When I got static, I reminded them that their tardiness is noted as is a patient's and they could do what they had to do to collect the balance. It was so nominal it wasn't worth it for them to hire a collector. Others who were in the waiting room with me took note and did similarly. They never did that to me again. I also called a dentist on the same type of situation and they never did that to me again, either. I'm fully in agreement with you. Your time is as valuable as the doctor's and you certainly don't get paid to sit and wait for an ego to call you into his/her office.

. Deducting from the bill works. What also works is small claims court. figure out your time is worth and how much it cost you to it and wait. I will guarntee the Dr. will settle with you before he/ she has to appear in court. There are good ones and bad ones. You want to talk bout bad? I waited over two hours for an appointment and when the bozo came in, he had the wrong files and tried to tell me I had a heart problem. I never went back to the idiot.

You think you have to wait now, wait until Obuma care kicks in. You will be stuck with crappy doctors and terrible care. There will be two health care systems in this care. Those on Obumacare and those that are willing to pay cash for quality care. Thanks Mr. Obuma.
