Two young men lost their lives, they were only 19 and 21. I can't imagine what their families and the family of the shooter is going through right now. I don't think this article is this place to bash Steubenville. The police do what they can but you have to realize people aren't very forthcoming with information nor all that willing to be a witness. The police have procedure they have to follow as well. There's a big difference between knowing someone is guilty and proving that guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. In light of the consent decree I'm assuming the police department is careful about not infringing upon an accused criminal's constitution rights. There is also this to think about; when the police take months investigating to bring down a drug dealer and then that dealer ends up with a slap on the wrist. The blame for all this hardly belongs on the shoulders of our police force, they can only do so much. My opinion, it's the parents.

The problem is the "gangsta" and "gangsta wannabe." Maybe Steubenville needs a "gang unit" to harass these idiots, arrest and charge them with serious crimes so they go back to Chicago, or grow up, get off welfare, stop dealing drugs, or just become productive members of the community.

Since the murders, Steubenville has had a 14 year old girl driving a stolen car and shooting a pistol. " Da Ville " has about 18,000 residents yet has the crime appearing to rival the larger inner city ghettos.

Perhaps, if Steubenville had more emphasis on educating the youth in ethics, community standards, common sense morality rather than boasting about corruption and athletes are in a different social class when it comes to bad behavior and choices, the decaying eyesore of a town just may become like the vast majority of other American towns.

Mayberry Steubenville is not!

How long must the good people of this town( of now only 18,000) put up with this endless violence perpetrated by the gang/drug/violence crowd that has taken over. We should be protesting on the steps of the couthouse about this endless garbage daily until the violence ends and the ********ers are sent back to the hellhole from which they sprang. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Can't we take back our town from these punks as well as from those who are a bit too preoccupied with HS athletics??

What the Sam Heck is wrong with the youth of our community? where are the parents ? I know, you do not know what your children are doing 24-7 but come on. If this summers party with the High School kids isn't an eye awaking experience. Then as parents you have dropped the ball and it has rolled down the hill.
