A Big Red football coach at Steubenville said:

“The rape was just an excuse, I think,” said the 27-year-old Hubbard, who is No. 2 on the Big Red’s career rushing list.

“What else are you going to tell your parents when you come home drunk like that and after a night like that?” said Hubbard, who is one of the team’s 19 coaches. “She had to make up something. Now people are trying to blow up our football program because of it.”

This is all you need to know about this football team. I'm a huge football fan. Just not of teams that think being raped is "just an excuse" to stay out late.

I agree completely. I live in a small southern texas football town myself. If there is one thing I was always very aware of growing up is the lack of parental supervision in many of the more popular kids. The "in crowd" was always involved in exponentially more drug use and debauchery. There is a serious problem in these places where the parents let the kids run wild because in their eyes they can do no wrong as long as the score a game winning touchdown. I say this because I watched it every day. We will not get anywhere until we teach children that they are just that, children. They are not the stars in their own reality show or the center of the smalltown universe. They are children in a very, very big world and it most definitely does not revolve around them. Im all for youth empowerment and equality but come on america wake up already. Whether we like it or not we did this and we need to fix it.

Curriculum seems overdue Coaches should help educate players, big influence on their lives. Moms need to talk with girls and boys soon. Dads need to talk with their young men immediately.

Topic should include assault on women is always a crime. Crime equals punishment.

Parents need to be respnsible for their off-spring.
