Ohio misses deadline on business report
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Gov. Ted Strickland’s administration has missed its own deadline for creating an online scorecard to measure purchases the state makes from Ohio-based businesses, and officials expect the score to be low.
Strickland ordered creation of the scorecard as part of an executive order in June to beef up the ‘‘Think Ohio First’’ program, which encourages state agencies to give Ohio companies every opportunity to compete for state business.
His order called for the scorecard to be online by Jan. 1, but it is not expected until at least mid-month, Strickland spokesman Keith Dailey said.
‘‘We fully expect that the scorecard will be completed within days or weeks,’’ Dailey said. ‘‘And then, within the next several months, that Web site itself will be completed.’’
He said there is no penalty he knows of for missing a self-imposed deadline, even one contained in an executive order.
