Brooke beats ’Park

WELLSBURG — The Brooke girls soccer team just would not be denied and, Thursday evening, the Bruins pulled off a rare accomplishment in Ohio Valley soccer. With the score tied at 1-1 with less than 1:20 left to play in the game, Brooke senior Kaitlin Starcher gained possession of the ball, dribbled it up the field and sent a pass through the Wheeling Park defense to sophomore Maci Hascak. Hascak gathered in the ball and sent a pass across the field to junior Brittany DeCapio, who knocked the ball into the net with 1:09 left to give the Bruins a 2-1 win. “It was tough,” Brooke (2-1-1) head coach Jerod Hall said. “In the first half, I felt like we dominated play throughout the majority of the game actually, but we just couldn’t finish. We hit the post three or four times. “Our buildup was good. I think our speed was very dangerous, but that is the way soccer goes sometimes. Sometimes the ball just don’t go in, and if you let a team like Park hang around, they are going to find a way
