Comis and the Kennedy

November 24, 2013 - Mike Mathison
I am not sure what it takes for a "small school" football player to win the Kennedy Award.

I do know that Weirton Madonna senior Ross Comis has what it takes to win the award and should win the award.

He proved that again in Saturday's 77-50 win over Wahama in a West Virginia Class A quarterfinal at Jimmy Carey Stadium.

His performance gave him more than 3,000 total yards on offense for the second consecutive year.

He has accounted for 45 TDs for the 12-0 Blue Dons.

Comis has some great teammates with the same work ethic with one goal in mind — win a football game on The Island the first Saturday night in December.

He plays hurt and rarely comes off the field. He leads by example and is not a punk.

Here is a simple question for anyone who is curious: If Comis was the starter for the No. 1 team in Class AAA and he had the same numbers, would there be a question on who would win the award?
