Week 2 to Week 3

September 12, 2013 - Mike Mathison
Big Red -- Steubenville showed a lot last week by throttling Benedictine's running attack. While I personally think this week is going to be an easy one, Big Red then has contests with Brooke and Massillon back-to-back.

Brooke -- University and its 24 returning lettermen visit Wellsburg and the hosts must work on that offensive tempo for the week.

Buckeye Local -- Not a good identity on either side of the football through an 0-2 start, getting outscored 85-6 in the process.

Catholic Central -- Took care of business last week and must do so this week at Columbiana before Week 4 game with rival Toronto. Really like the way the Crusaders are running the ball.

Edison -- The Wildcats in the second half were not the Wildcats of the first half in last week's 39-25 loss to Carrollton. If that second-half Edison team makes weekly appearances, watch out.

Indian Creek -- The defense had to make a bunch of stands last week and they will have to do so again. Maybe not this week against an Oak Glen team that is struggling to score. But, the Redskins' defense will have to be a bright spot.

Harrison Central -- Big game this week with Div. 7 Western Reserve. Huskies defense has been stellar and must find a new level of stellar in order to have the chance to win the game in the fourth quarter.

Madonna -- GAME OF THE WEEK with Wheeling Central. Teams are ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the Charleston Daily Mail poll. I am trying to figure out how a one-loss Wahama team got a first-place vote. Saturday night at Jimmy Carey will be the place to be.

Oak Glen -- Must find something to hang their identity hats on and haven't been able to do that yet. Bears are 0-2 and need to start answering questions instead of adding more questions to the list.

Toronto -- Red Knights hit the road for the first time at Fairport Harding and has the chance to come away with the win. Team must continue to move the ball around the field and to anybody who wants to catch or run.

Weir -- The Red Riders are struggling and have lost 12 in a row. They need someone to make a play to make the change inside that locker room to get things going forward.
