It's hair and they are 5
April 8, 2013 - Mike Mathison
In a story on Yahoo! Shine written by Senior Editor Lylah M. Alphonse, 5-year-old Ethan Clos showed up to school with a mohawk. Not the mohawk you and I are used to, a foot high and spiked and different colors, but a simple version that is rather clean and nice.
Clos was ordered home and a new "do" on top of his head because administration at Reid Primary and Middle School in Springfield, Ohio, thought his new hair style was "too disruptive."
Apparently, his kindergarten classmates thought it was the bomb and started feeling it, mother Keshia Castle told WHIO-TV Friday.
And, those simple acts are what got the kid sent home last week.
"Our dress and grooming policies are designed to ensure that clothing and hairstyles do not cause a distraction to the learning environment," Superintendent Gregg Morris said in a statement in the story.
Wow!! Something distracted a 5-year-old.
How long would the list be if we started writing down what distracts a 5-year-old?
We can do it off the top of our heads or alphabetically.
Another moment of silence, please, for common sense.
