Week 2 of the high school football season is upon us:
Big Red: Offense needs to be more consistent and will be. Defense did not give up a point last week and that's always a good sign. Expect more of the defense and its talent this week.
Brooke: Cannot have that many penalty yards and expect to win. Putting the offense on Alec Buchmelter's shoulders is a good thing and he responded well last week.
Buckeye Local: Cannot be down 13 after 135 seconds of action on the road. Should fare much better at home against Westinghouse on Saturday.
Catholic Central: Really like the Crusaders' offense, need to get better tackling the run. Think they will bounce back in a big way this week. A lot of weapons on offense.
Edison: Passing game not that far off in loss to Oak Glen. Running game was good and should get better. Need to stop the run better, though.
Harrison Central: I think Justin Kropka thinks it's a sin to run the ball outside the tackles, but with a line like he has and a running back like Maurtice Hython, he shouldn't have to.
Indian Creek: Having Alex Young at quarterback paid big dividends last week and that won't be the only time. Ran the ball well with Logan Woods and Blake Roar and defense was tough.
Madonna: Needed that type of game against Valley as Dons head to Wheeling Central. Two injured players will be back and that will help immensely. Must stop C.J. Burch to have a chance.
Oak Glen: Impressive start under new coach Ian Whittington. Big offensive line with pay off big again this week against undersized Wellsville. Still really like Preston Murray.
Toronto: Red Knights must get better offensive and will do that. New scheme will get better as each week goes by. Like what they are trying to accomplish.
Weir: Hard to judge on Week 1. But, the Riders had a hard time stopping the run last week and that basically is all Harrison Central does. Weir will be better, but everyone has to give them time.
