| | Big 3 at U.S. OpenJune 7, 2012 - Mike MathisonThursday--Friday 10:22 a.m.-4:07 p.m. — Thomas Bjorn, Denmark; Kevin Na, Las Vegas; Branden Grace, South Africa 10:33 a.m.-4:18 p.m. — Phil Mickelson, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; Tiger Woods, Hobe Sound, Fla.; Bubba Watson, Scottsdale, Ariz. 10:44 a.m.-4:29 p.m. — Joe Ogilvie, Austin, Texas; Stephen Ames, Canada; Tim Herron, Deephaven, Minn. Do you really think the bookend threesomes around the Lefty, Tiger, Bubba trio has any chance to 36 holes of peace and quiet. The least the USGA could have done was make that Big 3 either the first or last group off one of those days. That way, only one group, would have been bothered. The Olympic Club is not exactly on a vast portion of land that is spread out like Oakmont Country Club. The Olympic Club is is a great golf course and one that will give all the participants and the eventual winner all they can handle. But, to put a threesome like this on a golf course will only bottleneck the place more than it already will be. Crowds are going to be mooooooving all over the place and Bjorn-Na-Grace and Ogilvie-Ames-Herron must really be patient when they will hit any shot, or strike any putt. I am not a big fan of the Big 3 pairing. But, I guarantee you, a lot of other big names are thankful for it because there will be "less" people around them Thursday and Friday.
