New head coach

May 29, 2012 - Mike Mathison
Sean Blumette has been named the new head football coach at Brooke High School.

On May 29.

Really Brooke Board of Education, it took you approximately 10 weeks to hire a new coach after Tom Bruney resigned in March.

You put your new head coach behind the 8-ball right away. The man has A LOT of work to do in a short amount of time and you did him no favors by handing him the job on May 29 instead of on April 23.

Mini-camp is in a few weeks and there is no coaching staff right now. I know he will work his tail off to get a staff and get the kids going during the mini-camp, but he sure could have used 8 weeks to prepare for the June mini-camp instead of 8 minutes.

I know Blumette will make ZERO excuses for the hand he was dealt and the mountain of work he has in front of him in a short period of time.

I understand you want your new head football coach to hit the ground running, but not at break-neck speed before you even hand him keys to the weight room.

From what I can tell, this was a really good hire -- just 5 weeks too late.
