Saving up for some fun

June 1, 2011 - Eddie Kokosinski
The cost of saving up for a 2nd trip to Puerto Rico is already driving me insane. All of my extra money goes toward saving up for this trip next January( or February..or March). At a rough estimate, I'll need to save up $1,300 to $1,500. 1 month in and I'm at an awesome $81. Only adds up to needing to save $165 per month. Only 9 months of doing nothing. Guess it will give me time to actually lose weight what with not having money for going out to eat or playing any new video games. (That's why I haven't beaten LA Noire yet. I'm saving it for when I'm tired of trying to 100% my games.

The bigger problem is, while I have 8 to 9 months to save, I need the biggest portion of my money by October, so I can at least have my tickets 3 months early. I'm not sure how true it is, but I've been told and I've read that the earlier you buy the cheaper they are. 2 tickets, round trip, thru Travelocity go for $350 each. So for roughly $760 after taxes (probably cheaper) I'll need to stick to my savings plan hard. Five months nets me $825. Anything after that is spending and eating money. The good thing about this trip, is my hotel is accounted for. No money necessary.

Will it be worth it in the end? As long as it doesn't rain for a week (it will, but it should happen in the AM for only a short time. And as long as Sigourney gets back on the plane after we connect in Philadelphia I think it should turn out just fine. Now if I can get Sigourney to tell me what and how much she is going to put into this pot of money, maybe I can relax a little more.

P.S. - How would you like to be on the Atlanta Thrashers right now? No idea where you'll be playing (NHL Board still has to approve sale by two thirds and the move to Winnipeg by half on June 22) next season. And if you do play in Winnipeg, you'll still be Southeast Division. So you'll be flying from Winnipeg, MB, Canada all they way down to Tampa Bay, Florida for a possible home and home series. 2,045 miles. One way. If they even win 25 games it will be a success because of the horrid travel they'll be going thru.
