The TV Return of Sarah Michelle Gellar
January 26, 2011 - Brandi Bowers
Ok, so it's not Buffy, but Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to TV! According to EW, Gellar has agreed to do a new pilot, a thriller/drama called "Ringer." It's not definite, but it should be picked up to start running in May on CBS.
The show is about “a troubled young woman on the run who hides out by living the life of her wealthy twin sister, until she learns her sibling’s life has a bounty on it as well.” I'm not entirely sure about this premise yet, but I have to say props to CBS for their newer shows. CBS hasn't had much in the way of hit primetime dramas in recent years. Their CSI, NCIS formulas tend to draw an older demographic. They've really been branching out lately with different dramas like The Good Wife & The Mentalist. They almost feel more like something you'd see on USA or TNT.
Speaking of those two networks, Gellar was actually looking at doing a series on cable, so that she would have more freedom to do a show the way she wanted. But the way everything has worked out, she appears to be excited about this particular series on CBS. If she's excited, I am. I think she translates better in TV than movies. We'll see.
And PS. I just discovered a cute movie with her and Alec Baldwin that never got much promotion, Suburban Girl (2007).
