Love and Other Drugs
November 18, 2010 - Brandi Bowers
I have to admit, I haven't been excited to see a new movie in a while... that is, until now. I'm actually looking forward to the premiere of Love and Other Drugs on Wednesday, November 24th. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Oliver Platt, Hank Azaria, Josh Gad, Gabriel Macht, Judy Greer, George Segal & Jill Clayburgh. It's listed under the category of romantic comedy, which usually means chick flick, which also means, I'm not so interested. But this one is a little different from the sound of it.
IMDB Description: Maggie (Hathaway) is an alluring free spirit who won't let anyone - or anything - tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie (Gyllenhaal), whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with the ladies and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie's evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love. Based on Jamie Reidy's memoir "Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman."
The combination of the previews and One Republic's song, Secrets, in the movie trailer, has me pretty excited to go to the theater. With On Demand, Neflix & the Internet, I think trailers are more important than ever in getting us motivated to actually go out and pay the high theater prices (tickets, snacks, etc.).
Hopefully this movie lives up to the previews. It's supposed to be pretty funny & steamy (just check out EW's covers this week). I think Gyllenhall & Hathaway make a great pairing. This isn't the first time they've played a couple either (Brokeback Mountain). The casting seems right on for this movie. Oh and bonus, it was filmed in Pittsburgh!
