More football

October 6, 2010 - Mike Mathison
Madonna lost to Bridgeport and learned a lot. The defense stepped up and the offense has some work to do. That's what the 11 weeks of West Virginia football is about. I would venture to guess that when the Dons meet Bishop Donahue, them kids from Madonna will step up. I still like the Blue Dons' chances when playoffs roll around. Indian Creek was beaten by a better team last week. There is no shame in losing to St. Clairsville. I still see the Redskins having a shot at the playoffs come Week 10 when they meet Edison. I also think the Wildcats will be playing for a playoff spot, too. Oak Glen's road to the Class AA playoffs is not easy with games against East Liverpool and Magnolia still left. A Big Red win this week in Massillon will go a really long way in the points system. Steubenville will face a tough Tigers team, but they are led by a sophomore quarterback. I like Big Red's chances when playing against a sophomore quarterback. Brooke must show some backbone this week with a trip to Morgantown to face University. The Hawks are above the Bruins in the SSAC standings, but I still like Brooke's chances. Congrats to Toronto for winning its second game in a row and, again, I like its chances to win its third straight this week against Beallsville. Coach Eric Meek has laid down the law and the kids have responded positively. It's great to see.
