Of parking and football
August 26, 2010 - Paul Giannamore
When we did the story about the new Kroger gas station coming to the Hollywood Plaza a few weeks ago, the only response I heard, over and over and over, was that it would be tough for parking during football season.
The variant of that comment included that the double-header on opening day at Harding Stadium would be interesting, at best, or the absolute worst traffic nightmare in the history of the automobile in Steubenville, Ohio, at worst.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, was my general response, preferring, as I still do, to be happy we're going to have a new Kroger fuel station in the center of the city, with easy access for me, since I go up to the plaza over and over during the week, for the gym and shopping.
So, Aug. 26, 2010, is here. And I'm faced with the choice. Work ends today at about 4 p.m. with an assignment in the West End. So, do I go down to Hollywood for working out at the gym after work?
Do I hang out a bit and try to attend co-worker Jess Looman's spinning class at the Y and the arena, facing the certain possibility of cardiac failure at the instruction of such a young person?
Will it be the gym or workout death?
Will traffic be merely interesting or the all-time worst in the history of automobiles in Steubenville?
Look for the woody PT. I'll either be the dead guy by the arena Y or the sweaty guy stuck in absolute gridiron gridlock.
