American Idol - Top 12/Rolling Stones Week

March 18, 2010 - Brandi Bowers

Spoiler alert! If you've DVR'd American Idol, please avert your eyes. Otherwise, in case you missed this week's Idol, here's a recap!

This week was the first performance of the "Top 12." The group performed songs from one of music's all time greatest bands... not just my opinion, it's a fact (go ahead, look it up, I'll wait, lol)... THE ROLLING STONES!

Here's the lineup:

Michael Lynche - Miss You

Didi Benami - Play With Fire

Casey James - It's All Over Now

Lacey Brown - Ruby Tuesday

Andrew Garcia - Gimme Shelter

Katie Stevens - Wild Horses

Tim Urban - Under My Thumb

Siobhan Magnus - Paint It Black

Lee Dewyze - Beast of Burden

Paige Miles - Honky Tonk Woman

Aaron Kelly - Angie

Crystal Bowersox - You Can't Always Get What You Want

Last night gave us the bottom three: Paige, Lacey & Tim. Based on this week's performances, I think those three made sense. Paige did terribly last week, & I know points for being sick this week & singing fairly well, but I do not think she's deserving of the top 12 status. Tim has been on & off with his performances. I'm kind of waiting to see what he'll do next. This week's reggae rendition did not go well at all, but I'm glad he stuck around for next week. Of the three, I was sad to see Lacey as the one to go, but I'm also glad the judges didn't use their "save" last night. If this year's voting so far, has any indication of voting to come, I can see a "good" singer in a position to go home before he/she should.

On a positive note, for anyone who's seen my messages on Facebook or talked to me, you know my picks from the top 24 have been Siobhan for the girls & Lee for the guys. And you can't deny Crystal is very talented and should do well, and it was a shame to see Lilly leave last week. Well, I hope the judges are right in saying a girl will win this year, and I hope it's Siobhan! She sang my favorite Stones song, Paint It Black, & absolutely rocked it! My vote is definitely for her. How about you? Who are your picks for this year???

PS. Orianthi's performance was amazing! Bonus points for rocking the electric guitar.
