Betty White on SNL

February 24, 2010 - Brandi Bowers

So, I'm on Facebook a few weeks ago & I see that one of my friends has recommended a group. It was called "Betty White to Host SNL (please?)." It only took me a second to think of her new Snickers commercial & click join group. Betty White hosting Saturday Night Live sounded like one of the best ideas ever!

From her roles as Rose on Golden Girls & Ellen on Mama's Family to her many movie appearances, I have been cracking up at Betty White's comedic performances for years. It seems only fitting that she host, & according to the latest Entertainment News, she is definitely in the running!

There is a minor snag to this equation, however. Betty is in her late eighties & SNL is a very demanding gig. They have a whole week of preparation ending in a full dress rehearsal & live show, both in front of a studio audience. The good news is that SNL is considering a "Women of Comedy" show, which would allow her to appear as a co-host. Not only would this be a great place for her fans to see her, but it would also make her the oldest person to host SNL. That would mean an 80 year gap between the oldest and youngest to ever host (the youngest being, Drew Barrymore at age 8).

Some of the front runners said to possibly host along with her are former SNL cast members Tina Fey, Amy Poehler & Molly Shannon. It should be an excellent show that will have all started with a Facebook group. Ahh, the power of the Internet! Thank you for being a (Facebook) friend.
