NBA quick hits

April 29, 2008 - Mike Mathison
With the latest announcement that Isiah Thomas will have no job title, no one will report to him, he is not allowed contact with the New York Knick players, and, basically has been kicked out of the building. It sounds like he is the perfect candidate to be the new CEO of Vandalay Industries and his first act as such will be to work on the Penske File.

The flopping in the NBA is just as bad as it is in soccer. Itás disgusting watching guys fall over the place like a 16-wheeler had just ran into them when, in reality, they were hit no harder than if a Lhasa Apso had just jumped into their lap.

Forcing the best of the best in high school basketball talent to go to college for one year is, at best, just plain stupid. Now that Kevin Love, O.J. Mayo, Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon and Jerryd Bayless have declared for the June NBA draft, there is no reason for them to go to school.

Classes will be dropped or not attended and they will spend the majority of their time in the weight room and gym sharpening their skills for the NBA.

The NBA is now thinking about making it two years in college before heading to the NBA. That's even dumber.

In baseball, the major leagues can draft a player after high school and then not again until after his junior year in college.

Seems like that would work in the NBA.

In the NBA, there are no rookie holdouts because they are all slotted into specific pay positions based on where they were drafted.

Seems like that would work in the NFL.

They aren't saying it in league headquarters, but the NBA front office big wigs would really like to see a Lakers-Celtics matchup in the finals.
