Continue to grow spiritually, eat meat not just milk

Many who call themselves Christians continue drinking milk through the course of their lives instead of eating the meat of the word as should be done.

As an adult, if I regularly went to lunch with you and continued drinking milk instead of eating a meal would you be concerned about my health ? Would you consider this as something good for me ? I would hope not!

The problem found in Hebrews 5:12-14 continues even till today. Read carefully these words: “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the [a]oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are [b]of full age, that is, those who by reason of [c]use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Many are not growing in Christ and seem okay with just milk only. To be skillful in anything there is a needed growing process, especially in consideration of our spiritual relationship with Christ.

Honoring your commitment to Christ must not be taken lightly. Jesus has done so much to allow us the right to become children of God which should inspire us to give the same effort in continuing our growth in Christ. Imagine those who are looking to you as their example.

Whether you are a truck driver, nurse, doctor, or any other vocation, you would encourage them to be the best in their field. The Christian life must be the same way, be the best, possible. When those who want to be like you see your spiritual growth, imagine the long lasting effect or impact this will have on their life. So,, start feasting on the meat of the word. It’s delicious. One of my favorite songs for worship says: ” Oh to be like thee, blessed Redeemer, this is my constant longing and prayer…” How about you ?
