Guest column/Thanks for helping with this year’s health center gala

On behalf of our board of directors, volunteer health care providers, staff and patients, Suzanne and I would like to thank all of those dedicated supporters for the tremendous success of our eighth-annual Jefferson County Fourth Street Health Center Gala on April 27.

Our center is a nonprofit health care facility that relies on the generosity of donors and dedication of our health care providers, staff and volunteers to enable us to continue to meet the needs of the medically uninsured and underserved in Jefferson County. The event raised more than $117,000.

We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all of our premier sponsors for their committed and motivated support of our mission to offer quality medical care with dignity and respect to our patients. The lead sponsor was Trinity Health System. Platinum sponsors included Christian Fellowship Foundation, Comcast, Hess Corp., Hindman Family Cos., Jefferson County Fourth Street Health Center Board of Directors and Starkdale Presbyterian Church. And, a special thank you to area dentists, Ron Ferguson, and Verizon for their donations. Area bakeries (Aubrey’s Bakery, Jennifer Cesta, Downtown Bakery, Gus’s Goodies and Touch of Elegance), area florists (McCauslen Florist and Thompson Florist), General Rental Center, and Dr. Sonny Sunseri’s Jazz Band all played a part in making this year’s gala a wonderful event. We are so very blessed to have so many special donors too numerous to list who have supported us throughout the years.

A live auction was part of this year’s fundraising. We would like to thank those who generously joined us in donating the prizes: David Barnhouse, Jo Copeland, Jim Emmerling, Tom Gentile, Tom Graham, Hairway to Heaven, M&M True Value Hardware, Dr. David and Cheryl Mascio, Nelson Fine Arts, Todd Piergallini, Saxon Jewelers, Spring Hills Golf Club, Herald-Star, Travel Resorts of America and WTOV-TV. We also would like to thank all those who donated prizes for our 600 mystery boxes you are so very much appreciated.

Again, thank you for your generosity to help those in need. We are looking toward a future of continued growth and expansion to meet additional areas of medical and dental care. It is our hope that you will continue to support the efforts of the Jefferson County Fourth Street Health Center.

God bless.

(Tom and Suzanne Brown were co-chairs of this year’s Jefferson County Fourth Street Health Center gala.)
