Students help in Wintersville

To the editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Indian Creek Local School District and the Jefferson County Christian School for partnering with us to make our Wintersville Good Neighbors Christmas program a big success.

Special thanks goes to Wintersville Elementary under the leadership of Lorrie Jarrett and coordinator Makenzie Householder, along with Brittany Shank, who collected 2,324 cans of food and divided them between Bloomingdale Food Pantry and our organization. These three individuals, along with a very hard-working group of fourth-graders, delivered, checked and sorted all of the canned goods. They also presented our organization with a very generous donation from their Parent-Teacher Association.

The Jefferson County Christian School offered their services on the Friday before distribution to put together and set up food boxes, repair and check some toys, fill Christmas stockings, and set up and organize the rooms. They were under the direction of Renee Hargett, and all of them did a fantastic job.

Under the direction of Julie Robinson, the Indian Creek High School Key Club also held a canned food drive and donated more than 500 cans of food. Without these groups, we could not do what we did in assisting 144 children and 77 families with their Christmas.

Thank you to all of these wonderful students for their community service.
