Cancer Dietary Initiative says thanks

To the editor:

The Cancer Dietary Initiative expresses sincere gratitude to the Tri-State Area community for the support shown to our families this Thanksgiving season.

The Tony D’Aurora Quarter Auction held Nov. 4 by the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School exceeded all expectations in money raised, food items donated and the coming together of staff, students and volunteers under the supervision of Jill McVicker, the coordinator for the past six years.

Ohio Valley Hospice conducted its annual food drive at many locations during October, finishing in November with food items and a cash donation to supply needed food items to compliment Thanksgiving dinners.

Additional organizations supplied stuffing mix, noodles, mashed potatoes, gravy and more — even all of the ingredients for the seasonal green bean casserole.

Pledges contributed money to guarantee that no item was left out.

Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort, as the community outreach by its staff, provided each family with the main event — the turkey.

Thanksgiving is the time set aside to be thankful, and our community certainly came together to put the giving in Thanksgiving 2018.
