It’s time for Laman party

To the editor:

Did I blink and miss the summer? Christmas is right around the corner. Ray Laman elves are busy planning the 40th-annual Ray Laman Children’s Christmas Party.

This year’s party will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Wintersville Volunteer Fire Department garage. Children will be entertained with a sing-along by guitarist Kenny Wells, as well as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, elves and Mrs. Claus until the arrival of Santa.

The event is open to all area children under the age of 10 (not just Wintersville residents.) All children attending must be accompanied by an adult. A free photo with Santa, plentiful gender-related gift bags and treat bags of fruit and candy will be given to attending children following the arrival of Santa.

This is a nonprofit organization that is funded solely through donations of area merchants and caring citizens. Without generous donations, it is hard to fill the gift bags with plenty of toys and goodies for the children. This is one of the biggest parties in the community, and we strive to keep it a huge success each year.

You can contact me at (740) 264-2161 any time. Donations can be sent to Ray Laman’s Christmas Fund, 60 Pioneer Drive, Wintersville, OH 43953, or dropped off at the Wintersville Police Department. We look forward to donations, volunteers and many smiling little faces this year.
