Slow down in school zones

To the editor:

The title refers to the myriad of drivers who, day after day, continue to break the speed limit in area school zones.

As a daily driver along Sunset Boulevard, I am appalled at the number of motorists who ignore the flashing yellow lights and signs denoting a school zone. Either they are color blind or cannot read, or both. The most flagrant violations are at Harding Middle School in the morning and afternoon.

At Indian Creek High School in Wintersville, there is a mobile police officer present every morning and afternoon. Kudos to them — could not the Steubenville Police Department take a lesson from them?
