Find your treasure

To the editor:

My wife Cher and I like watching a show called “American Pickers” on the History Channel. We enjoy seeing Mike and Frank travel the backroads of America to visit old barns, warehouses and junkyards looking for unusual or rare antiques. They have an ability to see quality and value among so many discarded items.

From our home at the top of state Route 213 hill, I can scan the Tri-State Area and the Ohio Valley. To me, this region is like a huge flea market with thousands of businesses, people, opportunities and experiences. Every person has a unique reason for working, shopping or living here. We all long to find meaning, value and quality in our daily life and relationships. In such a vibrant marketplace as the Ohio Valley region, I do not waste time complaining about the things that don’t interest me. I focus my attention on the people, places, services and opportunities that bring me joy and happiness.

I came to Jefferson County in 2004 to work in the transportation sector. On a certain day off in July, I visited the Origin Gym in Wintersville to lift weights. The opportunity to get a massage was presented to me, so I made an appointment. While standing in the waiting room, a beautiful young lady walked in and introduced herself as Cher Petras. My heart melted within, and the Ohio Valley yielded to me a pearl of great price. Six years later, when our friendship turned romantic, I knew I had found my soul mate, my co-creator.

The amazing vortex of love that began to spin that day is the energy I used to join Cher as a massage practitioner and help her design a wonderful, holistic health business. And, the best is yet to come, as we are visited regularly by people from as far as New York, Florida, Texas, etc.

My brothers and sisters of the Ohio Valley: Let me give you a priceless gift this holiday season that will bring you years of joy, love, energy, health and prosperity. My gift to you is a simple reminder of who you are: The creator of your own reality, an extension of source energy, a child of God. You given energy and value to whatever you give your attention to.

As you live, work or shop in this region, be sure to respect your personal preferences and focus your attention on the people, places or experiences that bring you feelings of appreciation, joy, personal growth and self-empowerment. Follow your bliss. What you think about, you bring about. This is what Jesus meant when he said, “The kingdom of God is within you.”

A priceless treasure awaits you in an unexpected place this holiday season in this fascinating marketplace we call life.
