There’s good in our community

To the editor:

The world today is filled with sadness and turmoil. We listen to the news and wonder what has happened to our morals and things that we once held dear to our existence.

Then, when I stop to think about where I have worked for many years, I see the good in our community and the individuals who are kind and caring.

One person who always comes to mind is Cindy Deavers, a registered nurse who works for the Jefferson County Health Department.

I have worked at Martha Manor for many years, and whenever the residents need their vaccinations or any tuberculosis testing she always is there. I know that we can depend on her, no matter how inconvenient it might be to her schedule.

We also have been blessed with many special people who give of their time and efforts to make the lives of our residents meaningful and happy, which include clergy and students from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Willa Wade and Linda Slowikowski. There are so many more that I cannot mention, but know that the world is a better place because of their dedication.

Thank you, on behalf of the residents and staff at Martha Manor.
