Growth part of DiCarlantonio’s plan

To the editor:

I am writing this letter today to urge the subscribers of the Herald-Star to vote for Frankie DiCarlantonio to become the next mayor of the city of Steubenville on Nov. 7.

I have known Frankie for years, and I believe in his vision for a better Steubenville. I had the honor of serving the city of Steubenville on the parks and recreation board for a number of years, and I know firsthand the problems the department has in providing and maintaining the necessary facilities and services that our citizens deserve. Frankie understands the needs for both facilities and programming in our parks and recreation department. Not only does he understand that we need to invest in our buildings and be able to offer programs for our youth, he understands the need to invest in time and resources to be able to continue programs for all of our residents. We need activities for our young people each and every day — whether it be athletic programs, after-school programs or special holiday programs. Our youth are our future!

The only way that we are going to be able to do this is to invest in the department. Why isn’t it being done now? The problem is the lack of resources and revenue that are available. What can we do about it? We need to bring new businesses to the city in order to provide jobs for our friends and neighbors, thereby gaining the needed resources to keep our city a viable place to live and work.

Frankie DiCarlantonio is the best person to make that happen. A big part of his vision is to entice businesses to locate to the great city of Steubenville, but he needs your help. So, on Nov. 7, consider Frankie with your vote to help him become the next mayor of the city of Steubenville.
