Coalition picnic a success

To the editor:

On May 20, the Jefferson County Progressive Democratic Coalition held its first Patriots Day picnic, and it was a huge success.

The coalition worked very hard to bring this together in honor of Armed Forces Day and they all deserve recognition for all of their efforts. It was a group effort to bring together the food, entertainment and speakers, we all jumped in and did our jobs and pulled it together beautifully. I need to publicly thank these members for their tireless work — Marjie DeFede, Kathy Antinone, Christina Stein-Reaume, Linda Caputo and Glenna DeBacco. For all you ladies do, not just for the picnic but every day to make the coalition a success, my hat is off to you all. A special thank you to my mother, Patricia Dickey, for working so hard helping me keep everything running on time, I really couldn’t do any of this without your help. Special thanks to the village of Mingo Junction for allowing us the use of Aracoma Park.

To all the members of the coalition, which is now so big I can’t name you all or I would use up the word limit for this letter, thank you for stepping up and bringing food or door prizes. You all rock.

Thank you to Rose Angelica for donating her talents for the day, playing the bugle during the flag ceremony and for entertaining us with your music and for stepping up to play auctioneer — we applaud you.

Thanks to all of our local leaders and politicians who spoke about our shared values and reminding us why we are proud Democrats, John Corrigan, Scott Renforth, Frankie DiCarlantonio, Mayor Domenick Mucci, Jack Cera and Lou Gentile, and special thanks to gubernatorial candidate Joe Schiavoni for traveling down to spend the afternoon with us and for such a great speech!

To all the veterans and union workers who we were proud to honor, without you we would be living in a very different world, we proudly salute you every day.

If I forgot anyone let me apologize now, believe me it wasn’t intentional.

Once again thank you to everyone who helped make this day special. See you next year.
